Art Club!

School Year
Picture

Welcome to Art Club.

Our weekly art lessons have elements of student choice, teacher inspiration, healing arts, and so much more. It's a little art community - supportive, encouraging, and comfortable. My goal is to increase my students' tolerance for trying new things, help them discover what they love to do, and facilitate more of it - always over a freshly brewed pot of herbal tea. Starting mid-April, Art Club is offered to K-3rd graders on Mondays (4:30-5:30) and 4th-8th graders on Thursdays (4:30-5:30). If these times/days don’t work for your family please feel free email me to log your request for a different day - more classes will open up according to demand!

Art Class FAQ's

How much does Art Club cost?  $25/class ($150 per pay cycle) with ongoing enrollment and weekly attendance encouraged! Some supply fees are additional and are guided by the student's interests (drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, recycled art, and so much more!).

What are "student driven" art lessons? Students are in the creative driver's seat. I love to brainstorm with them, encourage them, and facilitate their creative vision. In doing this I am also able to interweave new techniques, media, vocabulary, art history and culture! I enjoy teaching my students to look at things in new ways, for example using broken ceramics to create a mosaic they designed or recycled paper for collages of their favorite animal. My goal is to honor their ideas, increase their tolerance for trying new things, and build their confidence as artists and people!

What is the studio space like? The dedicated art space in our 200 year old house in Dover, NH is full of character and charm. Kids have access to a wide variety of supplies at each and every session.

What are the class sizes? Classes are capped at 4-6 students, depending on the age range and needs of the group.

About the Art Teacher

Hey! I'm Amy. I have an M. Ed. in K-12 Art Education and was a public school art teacher for six years. My passions include travelling, animals, salvaging furniture and making art of course! My specialty is oil painting but I also enjoy ceramics, watercolor, printmaking, mosaic, and sketching. I love sharing my enthusiasm for culture and expression with young people and watching their creativity bloom.

Parent Testimonials:

"My daughter absolutely LOVES her weekly art class with Ms. Tilton. Her classes foster creativity in a patient and warm setting and I am constantly amazed at the projects she brings home! I feel lucky that Amy is a part of my daughter’s life and I know she feels the same!"  - Matt, Kingston
"We really love Amy’s art classes! When I ask my daughter what her favorite part is she says everything! The artistic freedom that seems like therapy for them as well as helping with the outdoor animals is really the most amazing time for them. Amy allows the kids to be as creative as they can, while encouraging them to try new things that maybe they’ve never been able to do before. Amy herself is the most kind and patient teacher I’ve come across in a while, she reminds me of Ms. Honey from Matilda! My daughter looks forward to it every week!" - Bonnie, Kingston
"Highly recommend Home Remedy studio!  My girls so look forward to their time there each week. The studio is peaceful, inviting, and perfectly set up for fun, art, and inspiration. Amy gives kids the freedom to work on projects that spark their own creativity while offering help, ideas, and encouragement. My kids love working on projects while sipping tea, listening to music, and chatting about tween/teen life with Amy and friends in class. They both come home from the studio each week feeling happy and inspired!" - Meg, Stratham
"My 11 year old daughter  has been benefiting from art with Amy for more than two years now. Through after school lessons, workshops, and summer / school vacation camps, she has been exposed to a wide variety of artistic ventures and experiences. Not only does she benefit from art exploration/ skill building, she is spending time in nature, exploring the garden, interacting with the animals and/or enjoying a cup of tea while building new friendships. I love how she is discovering her passion in such a nurturing environment that encourages her curiosity and creativity.
A few weeks ago I asked my daughter if she wanted to go to art camp over school vacation.  Her response was,    “Of course I want to do it!  You can sign me up for whatever Ms Tilton is doing. You don’t have to ask me anymore mom” !"
